Team Gambier Powers On

The report from the field is that our dedicated team continued today to flex their service muscles by scraping and painting and planting. They were up bright and early and headed out to work on the house of a local Haitian pastor who ministers in the area and has a working relationship with the ALC. They did all the prep work of scraping and sanding and then completed the project by painting this pastor's home. The house was successfully painted but word on the street was that there was as much paint on the crew as there was on the house! (Let's take a moment to be really thankful for the leaders and parents who have offered to be in the middle of this "happy chaos".) The team also helped to do the finishing work on a cement wall surrounding the property. They cleaned up the surrounding area, prepared a rock garden and then played and shared with the neighborhood children. They enjoyed their sack lunches out in an open field area. They brought out a stash of balloons and did their best impressions of animal balloon art. Many of the students told their leaders that they couldn't finish their lunches and asked if they could give what was left away to the neighborhood kids still hanging around. They continue to expand their horizons step by step and to look beyond themselves. Once their time in the neighborhood came to a conclusion they then headed to an area called the South Canals for a bit of of R & R. The plan for the evening was to return to the center for dinner, gather around the campfire for a debrief of the days events and then head to bed. The leaders reported that the first night there was chatting and sharing late into the night...but last night they all passed out at lights out! I am sure that tonight will be the same. Tomorrow brings new insights and experiences. So until tomorrow.....

I hope everyone is having a good time. Some information about picking up our kids. The flight number is UP 0205. I talked with Bahamas Air and obtained the following information. The terminal is #3 and the gate will be E1. The rep said the flight usually arrives around 4:30. It's scheduled to arrive at 4:45. Here is Bahamas Air number that you can call and verify the flight arrival 954 359 5511. I was also told that they go through customs in Nasuau and not when they get back. See everyone tomorrow. Have a safe flight back.
